Summary

Sam Smith is a standup comedian, comedy writer, musician from Auckland, NZ.

Sam is best known as being the winner of season one of The Traitors, New Zealand in 2023! But you may have also seen him on Kiwi comedy hits like 7 Days, Mean Mums, My Favourite Dead Person, and Shortland Street.

It's not just onscreen you will see him! Sam is one of the premiere warm up comics for all the major comedy shows you watch each week. Audiences for shows like 7 Days, The Project, Dancing With The Stars, Family Feud, Jono and Ben, Have You Been Paying Attention? and the Aotearoa Music Awards have all had the joy of being warmed up by him.

Sam doesn’t just warm up on camera audiences, he is one of the country’s most in demand standup comics. When he is not on stage making you laugh, he is busy in the office writing for 7 Days, Taskmaster NZ and Taskmaster Australia.

Sam was not always the comic he is today, he was once a dentist (no joke) but had to hang up his drills when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. While this has its daily challenges, Sam faces the adversity with humour and optimism. Sam has partial vision loss and hosts a podcast for Blind Low Vision NZ and is an ambassador for MS Auckland.

Sam is a father of two and writes books for children. His first book ‘Snake Bought Cake’ was published in 2022 with his next due out in early 2024.
