Upon leaving school in England at the age of 17, Bill imediately started work in professional repretory theatre, learning the crafts of acting and stage management.

For the next five years Bill worked in a number for theatres throughout England and the Channel Islands, playing a vast range of characters in drama, comedy, farce, thriller, "who-dunnit" and pantomine productions.

Eventually he moved from performance to technical work in theatre and joined BBC TV before spending five years in the music industry. 

In 1981, Bill immigrated to New Zealand and within a month of arriving, he was approached by a director (Roger Tompkins) and asked to screen test for a production. Bill booked the part and many projects followed.

For seven years, Bill was Radio Hauraki's gossip reporter "Mervyn Schwarz" on the late Kevin Blacks' breakfast programme. 

Now, Bill regularly performs in public as a registered Marriage Celebrant and Wedding MC. Most of his working life has been involved in the production of stage and (predominatly) TV productions.
